It’s no secret that Senior Chez Mellusi went down with a horrific injury in the 4th quarter while the Wisconsin Badgers played Purdue on Friday night. Details were released on what the injury was to Mellusi, and it seems he will miss the remainder of the season for the Badgers. However, his impact on the field will be missed by one more than most, and that’s his running back counterpart in Braelon Allen
The Dynamic Back Field for the Wisconsin Badgers
Chez Mellusi and Braelon Allen gave Luke Fickell and the Badgers plenty of options when it came to the running game. The dynamic duo had 678 yards between them, accounting for ten touchdowns for the Badgers. With the absence of Mellusi, it’s possible they lean harder on Allen, or they may thrust redshirt Sophomore Jackson Acker into more action.
Either way, Luke Fickell and his coaching staff will need to find a way to keep the spirits high in the locker room, especially with the loss of one of their two top running backs. It does seem as though Braelon Allen is ready to dedicate this season to Chez Mellusi, especially if the Wisconsin Badgers can continue winning games.

The loss of a talented running back could cause a ripple effect, or it could cause the team to rally around the injury, and use it as fuel. Either way, the win against Purdue Friday was bittersweet because of what happened in the 4th quarter.
