The Wisconsin Badgers are taking a blow to their 1-2 punch out of the back field with the injury to Chez Mellusi. According to Adam Rittenburg of ESPN, Chez will miss the rest of the season with a fractured fibula.

Sources: Wisconsin running back Chez Mellusi suffered a fractured fibula in Friday’s win against Purdue and is expected to miss the rest of the season. Mellusi had 307 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns before the injury.

What’s Next for the Wisconsin Badgers Running Back

Chez Mellusi was just starting to put on a show for the Wisconsin Badgers along with Braelon Allen. He had 307 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns on the year before he met an unfortunate injury in the 4th quarter of Wisconsin’s win over Purdue on Friday night.

It was an inside-zone run that Mellusi was part of when a defender landed awkwardly on his leg. After being carted off the field, it was thought he’d be sidelined for the remainder of the season, and that seems to be the unfortunate case for the Wisconsin Badgers. Braelon Allen was able to finish the drive off with a touchdown that sealed a 38-17 win for the Badgers over Purdue.

Since it’s early enough in the season, Chez Mellusi would be eligible to return for a sixth season in 2024 in the NCAA if he would like to. It remains to be seen if he will be returning, but as of now, the Badgers will look to Braelon Allen for their running game.
