The Wisconsin Badgers football staff welcomed 2024 three-star defensive lineman Dillan Johnson to campus this past weekend for an unofficial visit. Johnson had a chance to meet with the staff, players, and even watch their first practice as he explored Madison up close. After meeting with the recruiting staff, Johnson was offered a scholarship which marked his 17th offer already.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Offers 2024 Lineman Johnson
Coming in at six foot two inches, nearly 290 pounds, Johnson is a physical presence on the defensive line. The Illinois native currently ranks as the 19th overall player in the state and the 64th overall defensive lineman. Johnson also has offers from Northwestern, Missouri, Cincinnati, and Iowa State among other programs. Johnson has been very active in his recruiting process thus far, with his first Madison visit coming last year in October, along with a large number of recruits.

Johnson made his first campus visit last year in September when he stopped by Iowa State. Since then, Johnson has visited Iowa State again, along with Northwestern and Notre Dame. The talented lineman also made his way to Iowa twice. Despite his visits, Johnson currently does not have an offer from Iowa or Notre Dame, but that could change as he continues his recruiting process.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Recruiting: Dillan Johnson Edition
This time around for Johnson, Wisconsin invited the lineman on campus with the intentions of extending him a scholarship offer during the visit. Coach Greg Scruggs has led the charge thus far in the recruiting process as Wisconsin becomes more and more interested in landing Johnson. The talented athlete has also been gaining attention from the Wisconsin staff because of his incredible ability in another key sport.
For the past three years now, Dillan Johnson has been dominating the Illinois state wrestling scene. According to Trackwrestling, Johnson is 50-1 in his high school career with three straight state titles at heavyweight. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of his wrestling career is that he currently has 40 pins through his 50 wins, earning the top wrestling ranking in the state at his weight. Johnson is a menacing wrestler, and he has used his ability on the mat to tackle fearless ball carriers.
On the football field, Johnson is such a massive body compared to his opponents that he is able to move anyone, anywhere. Block shedding is a thing of simplicity for Johnson and he uses a large array of moves to get to the ball carrier as well. Johnson rarely relies on the same moves over and over again, and despite his size, Johnson does not try to bowl over every blocker.
Coach Luke Fickell is a former lineman and wrestler himself when he used to compete. Fickell has stated in the past that he has a strong interest in wrestlers as football players because of their tenacity and tackling ability. Due to the incredible success that Johnson has had in both sports, he will certainly become a top target on the Wisconsin Badgers football recruiting list. Between his strength, size, and array of moves, there is not a reason why Dillan Johnson will not excel at the collegiate level.
