The Wisconsin football staff has kept a close eye on a star 2026 recruit after previously offering the defender a scholarship in March.
Simeon Caldwell, a four-star hybrid safety and linebacker from Florida, received a scholarship from the Wisconsin football staff last March. Since receiving his scholarship, Caldwell has received attention from other major programs such as Florida and Notre Dame. During a recent interview with Wisconsin Sports Heroics, Caldwell spoke about what his recruiting experience has been like along with what his ideal landing spot needs to have.
Wisconsin Football Staff Continuing to Maintain Contact With Top-100 Recruit Simeon Caldwell

The Wisconsin football staff quickly sent out a scholarship offer early in March after watching film from a specific 2026 recruit. Four-star safety and linebacker Simeon Caldwell has been a major name early on in the 2026 recruiting class largely due to his breakout season.
This past season, the 6-foot-3-inch defender recorded 137 total tackles, a sack, and two interceptions along with 11 tackles for loss. Caldwell lit up opposing offenses all season and proved himself to be a true athlete with his versatility on defense. Caldwell has since been in close contact with Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, and Notre Dame according to the recruit.
The Wisconsin football staff has not been one of the major recruiters of Caldwell early on, but hope to develop a relationship with the athlete.
Simeon Caldwell: “Somewhere Where I am Able to Make an Impact Early”

For Caldwell, perhaps the most important aspect of the recruiting process is not only finding playing time early, but also impactful playing time. The recruit has made it clear he wants to win, and running around on special teams for a season is not what he is looking for. Caldwell stated when asked about what he is looking for in a program, “Somewhere where I am able to make an impact early.”
While the dynamic defenders wants to make an impact on the defense early, he also wants to find somewhere that allows him to feel comfortable. Comfort is perhaps the biggest key to recruiting many young players as they often leaving what they grew up around for the first time. Caldwell, who has long been around football staff members, wants to feel like he is at “home” around his future staff.
What Would Caldwell Offer the Wisconsin Badgers Football Team on the Field?

For the Wisconsin football staff and really any program, finding a role for Caldwell on the defense early on should not be difficult. Caldwell has long stood out on the field mainly due to both his intelligence regarding the game and his versatile abilities. When asked how he stands out on the field, Caldwell responded, “I’m a coaches son. My dad played 11 years in the NFL and has been a coach for 16 years. My uncle has been a coach in the NFL and is currently the defensive backs coach at Ohio State. With me you are getting an extra coach out on the field.”
Caldwell also stated “On top of that I feel I am one of the more versatile defenders there is.” The versatility that Caldwell is speaking about is in reference to his abilities to play nearly every defensive position. When Caldwell makes his way into college, there will have to be choices made by staff members and coaches because the athlete is too talented to remain off of the field.
