The Wisconsin Badgers football staff started off the month of June with a bang after landing a 2024 four-star offensive tackle.
Kevin Heywood, a four-star recruit from Pennsylvania, made his official visit to Wisconsin two days ago. Shortly after his visit, 247 Sports recruiting experts Brian Dohn and Steve Wiltfong both submitted crystal ball predictions in the favor of the Badgers. Heywood has gone under-the-radar as the big name recruits like Garrett Sexton and Donovan Harbour have filled the media. Landing Heywood is a massive commitment for the Badgers after struggling to land a tackle early on.
Wisconsin Football: Four-Star Kevin Heywood Adds To Talented 2024 Recruiting Class
For the Wisconsin Badgers football staff, being aggressive in their recruitment of top prospects has been key. In the recruitment of Heywood, the Badgers have been persistent and compete against programs like Penn State, Kentucky, Auburn, and USC to land the recruit. Heywood has boasted nearly 30 scholarship offers and packed his entire month of June with official visits. However, his first visit would prove to be the most influential.
Coming in at 6-foot-7-inches, 295-pounds, Heywood is an athletic tackle with experience on both sides of the football. Despite his talent on defense, the recruit is viewed as an offensive lineman heading into his collegiate career. Heywood is an excellent athlete and he is able to confidently move around the field when playing on both sides of the ball. This past season, Heywood began to develop as an offensive tackle as his strength and awareness developed as well.
Currently, Heywood is ranked as a four-star recruit in the 2024 class. The offensive tackle ranks as the 25th player at his position in the class. Heywood is also ranked as the fifth overall recruit in the state of Pennsylvania as well as appearing at 266th nationally. Both Colin Hitschler and Jack Bicknell have been contacts for Heywood as the recruit began to develop a relationship with the Badgers. The Wisconsin football staff has now landed a major commitment as the talented offensive lineman looks to join the program.
Wisconsin Football: The Impact Of Landing Kevin Heywood
After the Wisconsin football staff landed Kevin Heywood, their 2024 class got significantly better. Wisconsin was able to land the player they wanted, as they truly needed someone to defend the blindside of 2024 quarterback Mabrey Mettauer. Wisconsin also had to battle an impressive list of schools as Heywood held offers from Alabama, Georgia, USC, Penn State, and plenty more.
Heywood had nearly 30 scholarship offers and scheduled more than five official visits. The recruit is one of the better offensive tackles in the class in the eyes of collegiate scouts.
