The Wisconsin Badgers basketball team must once again prepare to face the sensational big man Zach Edey following his recent announcement.
Zach Edey, the Big Ten scoring champion and college basketball player of the year, announced he will withdraw his name from the NBA Draft. In doing so, Edey also announced his intentions to return to the Purdue Boilermakers basketball program this upcoming season. The former scoring champion has put together some of his best performances against the Badgers. But, how will the 2023-24 season offer when Edey faces Wisconsin?
Wisconsin Basketball Eager For All Challenges During 2023 Season
During the last NCAA basketball season, Purdue Boilermakers center Zach Edey dominated the hardwood. The rising Senior averaged a double-double a season ago en route to winning the college basketball player of the year award. Edey averaged 22.3 points, 12.9 rebounds, and shot 60.7% from the field for the Boilermakers as he carried his team to a Big Ten Conference Championship.

Edey was a massive contributor for the Boilermakers each game and served as the heart of one of the toughest basketball teams. After his incredible season, Edey was expected to test the NBA waters and attend the combine, but later pulled his name from draft consideration. The 7-foot-4-inch center scored 17 points and grabbed 19 rebounds against the Wisconsin Badgers basketball team a year ago as the Badgers lost, 63-61.
After the Badgers failed to meet their own expectations last year, they have only continued to build themselves back up. Coach Greg Gard has been firing on all cylinders, landing transfers and four-star recruits ahead of a pivotal season. The Badgers will be out to prove themselves, and taking down Edey and the Boilermakers would be huge for the team. While the Big Ten schedule has not been released yet, a match-up between the two teams is expected.
Can Wisconsin Stop The Purdue Boilermakers Basketball Team and Zach Edey?
For Wisconsin, trying to stop Purdue and Edey will certainly not be an easy task. Purdue has already appeared as the second-ranked team in the earliest Top 25 rankings released. Wisconsin will need to play their best basketball to take down the talented Boilermakers squad. After bringing back their best player, the Boilermakers may prove themselves to be too much for the rest of the Big Ten Conference again.
