Former Wisconsin Badgers walk-on quarterback Marshall Howe has announced his transfer to Yale, marking a new chapter in his collegiate football career. Howe, a two-star recruit from the 2022 class, joined the Badgers as a walk-on, bypassing scholarship offers to pursue his dream at Wisconsin. After impressing the coaching staff and climbing the depth chart, Howe made the decision to transfer to Yale for the opportunity to compete for a starting role and earn a scholarship.

A Promising Journey With Wisconsin Badgers

Howe’s journey at Wisconsin began as a walk-on, where he faced stiff competition behind quarterbacks Graham Mertz, Myles Burkett, and Chase Wolf. However, with the arrival of a new coaching staff, Howe’s understanding of the offense propelled him to the third spot on the quarterback depth chart, surpassing his fellow competitors. Offensive coordinator Phil Longo praised Howe’s growth and grasp of the system during spring ball, solidifying his place as the Badgers’ QB3.

A Quest for Opportunity and Scholarships

Despite his progress, Howe recognized that the quarterback room remained crowded, limiting his potential playing time with the Wisconsin Badgers. Seeking an opportunity to compete for a starting position and earn a scholarship, Howe made the decision to transfer to Yale. The Bulldogs, coming off a successful 2022 season, provide him with a new platform to showcase his skills and make a difference on the field.

    Transition to Yale

Yale had an impressive 2022 season, led by quarterback Nolan Grooms, who guided the team to an 8-2 record. With Howe’s arrival, the Bulldogs aim to build upon their success and further strengthen their quarterback position. While it’s uncertain if Howe will immediately contend for the starting role, his dedication and growth as a signal-caller make him a valuable addition to the team.

    The Next Chapter

Howe’s decision to transfer to Yale marks a pivotal moment in his collegiate football journey. While he did not see game action during his time at Wisconsin, his development and improvement as a quarterback position him for future success. The move to Yale presents new challenges and opportunities for Howe to continue honing his skills and making a meaningful impact on the field.

All IVY league schools do not offer scholarships. Financial aid is available however.
