This morning in the WIAA State Baseball championship game for Division 4 the Ithaca Bulldogs came out on top of the Pecatonica Vikings with a final score of 8-7, it was quite a game for Ithaca. This may come back as one of the biggest comebacks in awhile in the State Baseball tournament, Ithaca was down 7-0 to Pecatonica going into the bottom of the 5th inning and they came back with 1 in the bottom of the 5th, 3 in the bottom of the 6th, and 4 in the bottom of the 7th that included a walk off single by Ethan Cockroft (Ithaca, 2023) that won the Division 4 State Championship for the Ithaca Bulldogs. One thing to point out about the Pecatonica Vikings the team the Ithaca Bulldogs were going against they currently only had one senior who is Coy Ruegsegger that pitched for them at the end.
Ithaca this season will finish with a 21-7 record, there only losses in the regular season came to Wauzeka-Steuben, La Farge (second of a doubleheader), De Soto, Cambridge, Seneca, Iowa-Grant and Barnevald. Ithaca had a struggling point as well this season at one point they were on a three game losing streak, this thing showed me one thing as a writer that they will never give up seeing when your down 7-0 in a Championship game and having a 3 game losing streak at one point.
Congratulations, Ithaca Bulldogs!
