One of the most captivating stories regarding Aaron Rodgers right now was his podcast appearance with Aubrey Marcus. It has certainly opened the eyes of is fans as well as his critics. Colin Cowherd went too far with his recent personal attacks on Rodgers. Even so, Rodgers certainly has made the headlines once again with some of his personal choices. Albeit this time he was genuinely trying to spread awareness about mental health. He was also making sure to get his point across about a few controversial things, namely his COIVD-19 stance. He talked about self love, which was discovered through his use of ayahuasca. Ayahuasca is a plant-based hallucinogen that he had to go to the country of Peru to use.
How Can Rodgers Use A Hallucinogen And Not Get In Trouble?
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy stated any trace of the substance in his system would not trigger a positive drug test; this for both substance abuse or performance-enhancing drug policies. The league and the player’s union collectively bargained a drug policy that prohibits a long list of substances. However, since ayahuasca isn’t on it, Rodgers is no in violation of either policy.
On the Aubrey Marcus Podcast, Rodgers said he consumed ayahuasca during a trip to Peru in the offseason. The substance, which contains the active chemical dimethyltryptamine, or DMT, is associated with religious practices and rituals in South America and has hallucinogenic properties. Rodgers credited the substance with helping him with his mental health and winning his third and fourth MVP awards in 2020 and 2021.
