Last month, the Brewers traded Hunter Renfroe for three young pitching prospects. Janson Junk, Elvis Peguero, and Adam Seminaris came over in the deal. Junk was the highest rated prospect involved in the deal. In the Angles system he was their 16th ranked prospect. For the Brewers, he is ranked 14th. Recently, a video was posted of Junk throwing and the radar gun showing 99 MPH!

Junk’s average fastball velocity last season was 93 MPH. At times he would touch 96 MPH in games. He does put a lot of spin on his fastball that plays well up in the zone. The Brewers would love to see their new pitching prospect build up his arm and add some more consistent velocity.
For the Brewers, Junk is expected to continue serving as a starting pitcher. He also will compete for a starting rotation spot this spring. What his velocity looks like in spring training will be something to monitor. For now it appears that his stock as a prospect is rising.
