The 2022 offseason is going to be filled with trade rumors and speculations as long as the futures of Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams are undecided. With both players, the Green Bay Packers hold all the cards.
Davante Adams will be under contract next season no matter what. The ideal scenario is keeping him in Green Bay by negotiating a long-term deal that spreads the cap hit out over enough years to not prevent the team from signing other players. The same goes for Aaron Rodgers. He’s under contract no matter what in 2022 as well. Him staying in Green Bay on a friendly long-term team deal, allowing the Packers enough breathing room, would be fantastic.
But in the event that neither one of these things happen and Green Bay has to say goodbye to both players, this is how they should do it.
Trade Adams and Rodgers to Separate Teams
It’s been talked about for months that if Rodgers leaves, Adams will want to as well. It has also been stated that if this is the case, Adams would want to go wherever Rodgers goes. The Denver Broncos have been a popular rumored destination for both of these athletes. The Las Vegas Raiders have also been in the mix.
Trade official, source tells ESPN:
Bears get: Khalil Mack, a 2020 second-round round pick and a conditional 2020 fifth-round pick.
Raiders get: 2019 first-round pick, 2020 first-round pick, 2020 third-round pick, 2019 sixth-round pick.
So Bears get back second-round pick, too

🚨 JALEN RAMSEY TRADE 🚨
— FanDuel (@FanDuel) October 15, 2019
Above are two examples of recent blockbuster trades in the NFL. Jalen Ramsey and Khalil Mack both earned their former teams two first-round selections, amongst other picks. Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams would easily call for more than each of those two players. However, it is unlikely that one team would mortgage four first- round picks, let alone more late round picks. Let’s say Green Bay trades Adams to the Raiders and Rodgers to the Broncos. Their total haul could look like this:
- Four first-round picks (two in 2022 and two in 2023)
- One third-round pick (2022)
- One fourth-round pick (2023)
- Multiple later round conditional picks
This type of acquisition from two different teams would wind up being the future foundation for the Green Bay Packers. We’re talking a Herschel Walker trade type of haul (LOL, Minnesota). That deal essentially established the Dallas Cowboys’ dominance in the 1990s.
