With the Rangers victory, the Brewers now have the second-longest active World Series championship drought at 55 years. They are one of five franchises to never have won it all.

What’s unfortunate about this stat for the Milwaukee Brewers is that they might remain without a World Series for a while.
Craig Counsell could take a more lucrative offer elsewhere, Brandon Woodruff will likely miss the entire 2024 season due to shoulder surgery, and the team will likely trade Corbin Burnes for prospects.
The Brewers have talent on the roster, but the issue every year comes down to offense. Milwaukee doesn’t have an offense that strikes fear into teams, and they have to rely on their pitching to keep them in games.
Will the Milwaukee Brewers win a World Series in the next five years?
It depends on who they hire as the next manager. In a perfect world, Craig Counsell stays in Milwaukee long-term, but since that’s not a given, the Brewers should go outside of the organization for their next manager. Promoting Pat Murphy doesn’t enthrall the fanbase, and the team would take a step back if Murphy were hired.
The other component of this is draft picks. If the Brewers want to follow the Atlanta Braves model, they have to start hitting on their high-draft picks. Atlanta has a well-rounded team, but what makes them dangerous is their lineup. Braves have drafted well and made some solid additions to their roster. If the Milwaukee Brewers start to do that, they will be a tough out in the postseason.
The team does have promising prospects coming up in the name of Jackson Chourio, Jacob Misiorowski, and Jeferson Quero. So Milwaukee is on the precipice of having a loaded-farm system.
Winning a World Series in baseball is the most challenging championship in sports. So many breaks have to go your way. No pundits penciled in the Rangers and Diamondbacks for the World Series before the season started, and look what happened.
The common denominator for a team winning a World Series is acquiring a big-name talent at the trade deadline. Texas acquired Aroldis Chapman before the deadline and Max Scherzer, Chris Stratton, and Jordan Montgomery at the deadline to solidify their pitching. That’s what Milwaukee needs to do if they are in a position to do so. The team went for it once in 2008 by acquiring CC Sabathia. What’s stopping them from doing it again?
Unfortunately, the Milwaukee Brewers have never won a championship. Hopefully, Brewers owner Mark Attanasio saw that stat and is in the lab with GM Matt Arnold to assemble a World Series team soon.
