The St. Louis Cardinals dealt quite a plethora of pitchers at this year’s trade deadline.  Jack Flaherty, Jordan Montgomery, Chris Stratton, Jordan Hicks, and Genesis Cabrera were all among a long list of players who were traded.  Now that we are about three weeks out from a lot of these deals going down one pitcher in particular has been dominating with his new team.

Former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jordan Montgomery has been dominating as a member of the Texas Rangers.

A season ago Jordan Montgomery was traded from the New York Yankees to the Cardinals.  In 11 games with St. Louis in 2022 the southpaw posted a 3.11 ERA and had one complete game shutout.  Similar to last year he was traded in July and is again off to a terrific start with a new organization.

Through four starts with the Rangers Montgomery has a 1.73 ERA and has covered 26 innings.  In each of his starts he has covered at least six innings and allowed two or fewer earned runs.  Three of his starts have come against playoff hopeful teams including the Miami Marlins, Los Angeles Angels, and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Texas is currently in a tight race for the AL West division title and Montgomery figures to play a key role in how their season turns out, but so far he has been excellent in a Rangers uniform.
