It was an exciting weekend in Washington as the Brewers battled the Braves. Here is a complete recap of the series and what to expect next from the Brew Crew.
Brewers vs. Nationals Game One:
Final Score: 5-3 Nationals
Corbin Burnes led the Brewers on the mound, delivering a solid performance allowing only two runs in six innings. On the opposing side, Jake Irvin pitched admirably for the Nationals, going 5.1 innings and conceding two runs as well. The Brewers’ offense ignited in the third inning when William Contreras hit an RBI double. Andruw Monasterio followed suit in the sixth inning with an RBI single, adding another run for the team. In the seventh inning, Joey Wiemer extended the lead with a solo home run.
Unfortunately, the Brewers’ bullpen struggled in the later stages of the game, giving up some crucial runs that ultimately cost them the victory.
Brewers vs. Nationals Game Two:
Final Score: 6-4 Brewers
Freddy Peralta pitched six innings, allowing three runs for the Brewers, while Josiah Gray gave up five runs in 3.2 innings for the Nationals. Andruw Monasterio started the offense with an RBI single in the second inning. In the fourth, Brice Turang and Joey Wiemer each hit 2 RBI singles. William Contreras added an RBI double in the seventh. Devin Williams sealed the win for the Brewers.
Brewers vs. Nationals Game Three:
Final Score: 3-2 Nationals
Wade Miley made a comeback start for the Brewers, pitching four innings with one run allowed, likely due to his recent injury. On the other side, MacKenzie Gore held strong for the Nationals, throwing six innings with two runs allowed.
Tyrone Taylor ignited the Brewers’ offense with a solo home run in the second inning, and Christian contributed with an RBI double in the sixth.
However, the game ended in a walk-off win for the Nationals as a result of a costly error on the infield by the Brewers.
