The Packers expect their veteran offensive weapon to play Sunday
The Green Bay Packers activated wide receiver Sammy Watkins on Saturday for the team’s Week 7 game. Watkins was listed as questionable to play against the Washington Commanders. The Packers, who ruled two wide receivers out on Friday, could use Watkins on their shorthanded offense. It appears the Packers will have their offensive weapon available in Week 7.
According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, the Packers believe that Watkins will play against the Commanders.
Packers anticipate that WR Sammy Watkins, who was activated off IR on Saturday and is listed as questionable for today, will be available to play vs. the Commanders. One more wideout for Aaron Rodgers.

This would be a massive boost for the Packers’ wide receiver corps, which is struggling with injuries and inexperience. Watkins played at an elite level before the hamstring injury, placing him on the injured reserve. Watkins helped to tear up the Chicago Bears’ defense in Week 2 with three catches for 93 yards. According to Pro Football Focus, Watkins has caught six of his seven targets this season. Aaron Rodgers’ passing rating is 118.8 when Watkins is targeted. Having this offensive weapon back should tilt the scales even more in the Packers’ favor.
