The Packers announce Sammy Watkins activated for Week 7
The Green Bay Packers released some good news Saturday afternoon. The Packers have had several injuries at wide receiver that has hurt the offense. Two Packers wide receivers were ruled out of the team’s Week 7 game against the Washington Commanders. Head coach Matt LaFleur said earlier this week that a wide receiver would be brought back from the injured reserve. On Saturday, the Packers announced Sammy Watkins activated for their Week 7 game.

Watkins is listed as questionable for the game against the commanders.
Several other major roster moves were announced in the release. The Packers also announced linebacker La’Darius Hamilton was elevated to the active roster for Sunday. Randall Cobb has been placed on injured reserve along with offensive lineman Jake Hanson. Offensive tackle David Bakhtiari is listed as questionable for the game against the commanders. Defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt is questionable, as well as he is dealing with an illness.
Sammy Watkins’ activation gives the Packers hope
LaFleur said on Friday that Watkins’ status for Sunday was up in the air. His questionable designation doesn’t make it a lock that he will play against the Commanders. But there is hope that he might play in Week 7. More than that, it appears the veteran is progressing with his rehab and will be back at least by Week 8. This is much needed, with Cobb going on injured reserve.
The Packers need all healthy hands on deck as they try to improve their .500 record. The team will face a challenge in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills. Watkins was playing well before his injury, so having him back will improve the offense. However, it’s still expected the Packers will make a move for a wide receiver via a trade or free agency.
