There’s a lot of drama going on within the Philadelphia 76ers right now, which at this point, seems to be a common occurrence within the organization. This time around, it’s James Harden who’s at the center of all the brouhaha as the former league MVP attempts to force his way out of Philly.
Through the years, Joel Embiid has remained loyal to the Sixers. Based on recent reports, it appears that this isn’t going to change anytime soon.
Philadelphia 76ers Star Joel Embiid ‘OK’ With James Harden Saga

ESPN’s NBA insider Ramona Shelburne recently published a comprehensive piece detailing the James Harden trade saga. One of the talking points, of course, was Embiid’s outlook on all the unending drama. The good news for Sixers fans is that the reigning MVP intends to ride out the wave:
“Thus far, Embiid has given the franchise assurances he is OK riding out the current drama with Harden, sources said,” Shelburne wrote.
Shelburne did provide a very interesting caveat, though. She noted that while this might be the case today, it “remains to be seen” if Embiid will still feel the same way if this saga extends through the regular season, which at this point, is sounding like a very real (and very unwanted) possibility.
We’ve all seen how James Harden can act when he does not want to play for a team (did anybody say fat suit?), and given how much angst he has toward the Sixers, it wouldn’t be surprising at all if he pulls off a similar act if he’s still in Philly to start the 2023-24 campaign. After all, the 10-time All-Star has already declared his unwillingness to play for Daryl Morey ever again.
If this unsavory situation spills over to the regular season then surely, this is going to be a problem for the Sixers. The unwanted distraction is one thing (remember the Ben Simmons saga last year?), but how it actually affects Philly’s play on the court is an even more important conversation. You can be sure that Joel Embiid won’t be too pleased if that happens.
