The Las Vegas Raiders showed an interest in a former Green Bay Packers starter this week. The Packers have made a few major changes to their roster this season as they shed veterans and add youth. Other than wide receiver, the more noticeable changes will be seen on special teams on Sunday.
The Packers will have a new punter and kicker this season. Rookie Anders Carlson is replacing Mason Crosby as kicker. Pat O’Donnell was a surprise cut after training camp in favor of Daniel Whelan.

It didn’t take long for the veteran, O’Donnell, to find tryouts after the Packers cut him. The Philadelphia Eagles worked out O’Donnell last week. According to Aaron Wilson with KPRC, the Raiders worked out O’Donnell Friday.

O’Donnell has not been signed as of this publishing. Neither has Crosby, for that matter.
One would assume Crosby and O’Donnell have enough talent to make an NFL roster. But it appears NFL teams are wanting to take on younger players with cheaper contracts than skilled veterans. We’ll see if that changes when the young guys miss crucial kicks in the middle of the season.
