To no one’s surprise, Packers Rookie Christian Watson has been named NFL Rookie of the Week for Week 10 of the NFL 2022 Season. The North Dakota State Rookie, known for his speed, hauled-in four receptions for 107 yards and scored three touchdowns. Watson played 84% of the offensive snaps against the Cowboys, his highest snap count of the season.
Joining Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson is the second Packers player to be awarded Rookie of the Week in 2022. Doubs missed Sunday afternoon’s matchup with an ankle injury. During Week 10, nearly the entire Packer’s receiving corps had an injury designation. Receivers Allen Lazard and Sammy Watkins were limited in practice. Veteran Randall Cobb was still nursing an ankle injury sustained in Week 6 against the Jets. Aaron Rodgers, now tied for 4th in the NFL with 17 touchdown passes, desperately needed a pass-catcher to step up. Sunday, Christian Watson was that guy.
Christian Watson joins an Elite Group
Even more impressive, Watson joins an elite group of wideouts who have duplicated this performance. Ja’Marr Chase, Randy Moss, and James Loften are the only NFL players who have had one hundred yards games combined with three touchdowns. The Packer’s will need another strong performance from Watson as the Pack to return to Lambeau tonight to face the Tennessee Titans.
