Packers news: In truth, Friday’s impressive win against the Cincinnati Bengals may have been nothing more than a non-bearing preseason win for the Green Bay Packers. However, there’s no denying that there’s much more to this victory than what’s on the surface. It was, albeit unofficially, the Packers’ first foray into their post-Aaron Rodgers era after the four-time league MVP left Green Bay this summer. It was an important first step for the entire organization and the fact that they managed to secure a 36-19 win in Cincinnati bodes well for what’s ahead for this team in 2023.
Packers News: A New Era in Green Bay
One of the most important, if not the most significant aspect of Green Bay’s preseason debut was the performance of new cornerstone quarterback Jordan Love, who obviously has some massive shoes to fill amid Aaron Rodgers’ departure. Love did not put in a mind-blowing performance against the Bengals, but the young man showed the entire football world that he has what it takes to step into this all-important role for the Packers.
Green Bay running back AJ Dillon is all in on the Jordan Love hype train. In fact, he has a first-class ticket aboard the rail wagon:
“Everyone was locked into what the quarterback had to say, and you know when guys are respecting and really want to play for somebody like, ‘All right, this is what we’re doing, QB1, let’s ball,'” Dillon said, via Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. “It’s definitely a new era here. … I think he’s going to have a hell of a career. I’m excited to be a part of the first team to have a go at it with him.”
Dillon is pretty much every Packer fan right now. More importantly, it seems that Dillon’s comments here represent the outlook of every player on the roster. The Packers have nothing but love for Aaron Rodgers, but at this point, it appears that they’re all looking forward to playing for the new kid on the block.
At the end of the day, Jordan Love can only go as far as where his teammates take him. It’s great to hear that he’s got their full support early on. Hopefully, this translates to their play on the field once the new season begins.
