The Wisconsin Badgers got one of their most important commitments for next season and beyond on December 17th. Nick Evers, who entered the transfer portal from Oklahoma, announced he’d be taking his skills to Madison next season. Evers was a four-star recruit out of high school. He has four years left of eligibility. Evers’ commitment is a big deal for a program that needed some big-time commitments after Paul Chryst’s firing. The Badgers weren’t done there, however.
Tanner Mordecai announced his transfer to the Wisconsin Badgers on Thursday. Mordecai has spent the last two seasons at SMU. In 2021, he threw for over 3,600 yards and 39 touchdowns. He followed that up this year with another 3,500 yards and a 30+ touchdown season. This season also saw a record-setting performance by Mordecai. In a game against Houston, he threw for 379 yards and a ridiculous 9 touchdowns. He also is fairly athletic rushing for just over 300 yards in his time at SMU. He was basically no. 1 in every passing stat for the American Athletic Conference. To say the quarterback room is stacked in Wisconsin is an understatement. Nick Evers reacted to the news of a new QB commit in Wisconsin.

Seeing the two newest 2023 QB commits supporting each other is a great first step for this program. The Badgers’ recruiting staff has been hard at work ever since Luke Fickell was hired and it is showing. After the Badgers landed Nick Evers, many thought Luke Fickell and his staff would be done looking for a QB. However, some pointed out that the QB group lacked experience and could struggle in the short term. That is where Tanner Mordecai comes in. With Evers having four more years of eligibility, the QB transition from 2023 to 2024 could be flawless.
