NFL Rumors: New York Jets Star Aaron Rodgers Could Return From Injury in Time for Playoffs

New York Jets fans were completely devastated when it was revealed that Aaron Rodgers had suffered a season-ending Achilles injury. Their title hopes were pretty much thrown out the window along with Rodgers’ 2023 campaign as the four-time MVP now faces an uphill task in working toward his return from this career-threatening injury.

In a surprising turn of events, it is now being reported that Rodgers could make his return to the field sooner than expected.

Aaron Rodgers Underwent Unconventional Procedure on Torn Achilles

Buffalo Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd (56) sacks New York quarterback Aaron R. (8) early in the first quarter during the home opener at MetLife Stadium on Monday, Sept. 11, 2023, in East Rutherford. He was carted off the field after being hit.

League insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network dropped a massive report on Saturday stating that Rodgers could be back in action much sooner than initially expected. According to the report, the 39-year-old underwent a special procedure aimed at speeding up his recovery process:

“Sources say renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache and his team performed a procedure to place an internal brace — called an Achilles ‘speed bridge’ — on Rodgers’ fully torn left Achilles, which he ruptured just four snaps into Monday’s game against the Bills. While there are no guarantees, the speed bridge protects the repair and opens up the possibility of an earlier return, sources say,” read the report.

It was further revealed in the report that, unlike typical injuries of this nature, Rodgers is now looking at a much quicker recovery period from his torn Achilles — one that could see him return to action in time for the postseason:

“It’s a relatively new process designed to have an athlete fully recovered in as little as four months from what is normally a season-ending injury, per sources informed of the procedure. It also could potentially give Rodgers at least a shot to be ready to return in mid-January, right around the start of the playoffs if the Jets qualify for the postseason,” read the report.

Rapoport and Pelissero did note that this new process involved “some risks with the procedure,” but at the same time, it also decreased the odds of the 10-time Pro Bowler having to undergo future surgery. Clearly, Rodgers is not the type to shy away from unconventional alternatives, and he has once again proven the same on this occasion.

Aaron Rodgers Sends Message to Naysayers

Speaking on a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee show, the Jets quarterback dropped a strong message to anyone and everyone who continues to doubt him amid this major setback. Rumors about the four-time league MVP calling it a career have been circling, but at this point, A-Rod is having none of it.

“Give me the doubts. Give me the timetables. Give me all the things that you think can, should, or will happen,” Rodgers said.

“Because all I need is that one little extra percent of inspiration. That’s all I need. So give me your timetables. Give me your doubts. Give me your prognostications.

“And then watch what I do.”

We have doubted Aaron Rodgers in the past, and for the most part, he has come out to prove his naysayers wrong. He’s hoping to do it again this time around. At this point, it would be completely foolish to count Rodgers out.
