Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill are two elite wide receivers that have made headlines for the wrong reasons in the past year. Recent updates on their cases have called into question whether they might miss time during the 2023 regular season for alleged activity off the field.
Adams had his criminal case dismissed earlier in June. However, the All-Pro wide receiver still faces a civil suit in connection to an incident on Monday Night Football last year where cameras appeared to catch Adams shove a freelance photographer before heading into the locker room.
Mike Florio with NBC Sports wrote last week that the NFL could punish the former Green Bay Packers player for the incident now that the criminal matter has been dropped. Florio thinks it’s possible Adams could face suspension under the league’s Personal Conduct Policy.
Tyreek Hill is still under investigation by legal authorities
Hill’s situation is different than Adams, as police are still investigating a case where Hill is alleged to have hit a man near the Haulover Marina following a disagreement between Hill and the man. Reports came out this week that the police report states Hill tried to pay the man $200 as an apology.
According to Andy Slater with Fox Sports, the NFL has requested video of the incident from the police. In other words, the league is investigating the incident.
SLATER SCOOP: The NFL has officially requested video from police of the alleged Tyreek Hill incident, law-enforcement sources tell me.
The video must be released to the league and others at some point as it’s public record.

Could Davante Adams and Hill miss games this season?
The NFL will do its in-house investigation. It’s possible Hill could face suspension for the alleged slap once the legal matter is over. That could take some time. As we saw with Adams, his case was dismissed months after the MNF game.
But if Hill’s case is resolved quickly, Hill and Adams could miss time in the same season. It would be a bad look for the NFL if two of their most popular star wide receivers can’t play. But it might be even more of a PR nightmare if they shove it under the rug.
