The Minnesota Vikings have been making several offseason plans around moving on from running back Dalvin Cook this offseason. The team has revealed their deadline to make a trade before they release their All-Pro running back.
The Vikings were in trade talks with the Miami Dolphins before the 2023 NFL Draft. Nothing came of the talks. However, the Vikings drafted running back DeWayne McBride in April, and the long-term plan in Minnesota appears to be around Alexander Mattison. It was thought the best chance for the Vikings to trade Cook was before the draft. The team is still reportedly listening to offers.
The Minnesota Vikings have a deadline for Dalvin Cook Trade
According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, Cook has been told by the Vikings that they are planning to release him Friday. However, the team is still fielding trade offers before processing his release.
Vikings are expected to try to trade four-time Pro-Bowl RB Dalvin Cook one more time today and if they are unable to, they would plan to process his official release Friday, per source.

The Vikings are letting teams know the deadline for a possible Cook trade Thursday morning. We’ll see if the deadline makes an interested team more likely to offer more to the Vikings in a trade or if teams are willing to get into a bidding war once Cook is released.
