Green Bay Packers Running Back Name Suddenly Mentioned After Major Vikings News On Dalvin Cook

A Green Bay Packers star running back was a trendy topic not long after a report came out on the Minnesota Vikings’ plans with Dalvin Cook. The Vikings are set to waive Cook by Friday if a trade does not materialize before they process the release paperwork.

The Vikings have fielded traded offers since before the 2023 NFL Draft, but the team has not found a buyer. Packers fans took to social media to comment on Cook being released from the Vikings.

It appears the two rival fanbases have been in disagreement as to if Aaron Jones or Cook was a better running back. Packers fans feel that Jones is much better since the Vikings are moving on from Cook, and Jones is staying in Green Bay. However, we have to remember that Jones took a pay cut for this season to remain with the Packers. Cook is being cut because he’s a cap liability for the Vikings this season and wouldn’t take a cut in pay.

Green Bay Packers fans debate Dalvin Cook vs. Aaron Jones

Here are the best takes on Twitter about Jones or Cook being a better running back.

I feel like he just made a business decision. We can dress it up however we want but the reality is that it was either pay cut or get cut, which ultimately would’ve meant signing somewhere else for much less than the restructure and learning a new offense. Good biz for Jonesy.

Aaron Jones is who you extend because he has more ability though he’s pushing 30. As I’ve said concerning Jones, #Packers can either make him a SL or he can transition into a Darren Sproles role. Sproles played till 36 at 5’6” 190… Aaron Jones has 4 good years left at least. https://t.co/738zn8lOha

People once tried to have a debate about whether Cook was better than Aaron Jones.

I would gladly take dalvin cook over Aaron jones

All those Vikings fans that have said Dalvin Cook is better than Aaron Jones sure are quiet this morning. #Packers #GoPackGo

I remember how many said cook, Montgomery, and swift were much better then Aaron Jones…now he is the only one left in the division. https://t.co/2IGG0LOFO9

Aaron Jones Has been and Is better than Dalvin Cook. I think if you gave Jones the opportunity Cook has had, pretty sure he’d have better stats

    — Jon (@Jonnywalking2) June 8, 2023

Volume is king and Alexander Mattison was always going to climb at worst into a deep RB2 pocket.

But there also is a good amount of “Aaron Jones without Davante Adams” going on right now with Mattison in the sporadic sample of games Dalvin Cook was inactive.
