Former Green Bay Packers team captain Adrian Amos is joining several of his fellow veteran teammates with the New York Jets this season. The signing was a surprise, as most of the former Packers signed to the Jets this season are on the offensive side of the ball to team up with Aaron Rodgers. New details have emerged as to why the Jets signed Amos.
The New York Jets saw a veteran suffer a severe injury
According to Aaron Wilson with KPRC, safety Chuck Clark injured his knee. The injury is considered severe and season-ending, but Clark will seek a second opinion.
There’s major concern that #Jets veteran safety Chuck Clark may have suffered season-ending knee injury, including potential anterior cruciate ligament damage, per league source, but that is not confirmed at this time. Second opinion, more exams pending, per source.

Adrian Amos is teaming up with Aaron Rodgers due to the injury
According to Jordan Schultz with The Score, Clark’s injury was the internal stressor that made signing Amos a high priority. The veteran safety visited with another AFC contender, the Baltimore Ravens, this week.
Source says Chuck Clark suffered “what could be a significant knee injury” that might sideline him for quite some time.
More details to come, but this explains the #Jets’ urgency for Adrian Amos, who also visited the #Ravens yesterday. (@ZackBlatt first to report.) https://t.co/ThQvtVHdbN

The Packers were keeping the door open for Amos. The team didn’t release a statement saying goodbye until he signed Tuesday. But the team wasn’t going to match the Jets’ $4 million deal for this season. Now Amos will join a Jets team going all in for a Super Bowl win this season. And he’ll do so in practice going against a few familiar faces.
