NFL: The New York Jets have had an interesting off-season, to say the least. Their franchise-altering trade for Aaron Rodgers set in motion a new era for the Jets. One where they expect to compete for a Super Bowl in the next 1-2 years. In addition to their trade for Aaron Rodgers, they added numerous veterans via free agency to surround the four-time MVP quarterback. However, they have off-loaded a few players this season as well. First was Elijah Moore being traded to the Cleveland Browns. Today, another wide receiver was shipped off.
New York Jets Trade Wide Receiver Denzel Mims To The Detroit Lions

According to Connor Hughes of New York Sports:
BREAKING: The New York Jets are trading Denzel Mims to the Detroit Lions, sources tell
It had been reported multiple times that the Jets’ intention was to release Mims if they cannot find a suitable trade partner. He did add, though, that numerous teams are have been in contact with the Jets about Mims. The Detroit Lions swooped in in the final hour to bring Mims to the motor city.

The Jets still reamin surprisingly deep at the wide receiver position after this trade. The two starters figure to be Garrett Wilson and newly acquired Allen Lazard. They also have Mecole Hardman (whom they acquired in free agency this off-season), Corey Davis, and Randall Cobb.
Denzel Mims has been somewhat buried and underutilized in the Jets offensive scheme and the addition of Lazard would have probably pushed him down even further this season. On the Lions, the 25-year-old 2020 second round pick from Baylor will probably be a top-three go-to receiver. He’s considered to have downfield skill and at 6-foot-3, 207 lbs. His size meshes well with his athleticism, creating a formidable presence when stacked against defenders.
