A former Green Bay Packers starting offensive lineman gave a strong response on Twitter after reports broke out Marcedes Lewis was set to join the Chicago Bears this season. Both Packers starting tight ends from the 2022 season, Robert Tonyan Jr. and Lewis, are in Chicago.
The Packers have lost many of their starters on offense over the past couple of seasons. They’ve ended up stacking up with a few teams: the New York Jets, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Bears.
A former Green Bay Packers starter welcomes Marcedes Lewis
One former Packers offensive lineman who flipped to the Bears last offseason made a statement on Twitter after Tom Pelissero reported Lewis signing. Lucas Patrick Tweeted:
“BIG DOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,” Patrick wrote.

Patrick seems happy to have a mini-reunion of former Packers offensive players in his new hometown.
Bears OC Luke Getsy has several former Packers players
Patrick is one of a few Packers players who signed with the Bears after head coach Matt Eberflus hired former Packers quarterbacks coach Luke Getsy as his offensive coordinator. The Bears signed wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown in free agency last season.
Getsy now has several players he’s familiar with in his system in Chicago. We’ll see how they work out for the Bears this season.
The Packers started to see minimal returns with many of their veteran players last season. They failed to make the playoffs in Aaron Rodgers’ last season with the team. However, Tonyan and Lewis seem like they can still play at a high level.
The Packers are making a conscious decision to reset their roster with Jordan Love. They might have growing pains this season while Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave learn the offense. But they should be better for it in the long run.
It’ll be a fascinating Week 1 watch to see the contrast between the Packers’ youthful talent on offense versus several of their former players on the Bears.
