The Chicago Bears will have a former Packers weapon
The Green Bay Packers knew they would likely part with several players from the 2022 offense. The Packers, who are likely to lose quarterback Aaron Rodgers shortly, will need to reset the roster as they build around Jordan Love. Part of that rebuild means shedding players that would make sense to Rodgers more than the Packers in general. The Chicago Bears came in and swooped one of Rodgers’ favorite targets.
According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, the Bears are set to sign tight end Robert Tonyan to a one-year contract for the 2023 season.

Tonyan will join former Packers players in wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown and offensive lineman Lucas Patrick. The Bears’ offensive coordinator is Luke Getsy, who is familiar with coaching that trio when he was in Green Bay. Tonyan will leave the Packers after five seasons where he had 1,437 yards receiving and 17 touchdown receptions. Tonyan will be the Bears’ second option at tight end behind Cole Kmet.

So a guy with good hands somehow wouldn’t be a fit for Love. 80% catch rate strikes me as something that would have been great for Love, a big dependable target.
