Green Bay Packers star David Bakhtiari was one of the first people to speak out following Aaron Rodgers’ catastrophic injury in his New York Jets debut on Sunday. The All-Pro offensive tackle turned his attention to the artificial turf field in New York’s MetLife Stadium, claiming that this was the main reason behind his former teammate’s season-ending Achilles tear.
NFL commissioner Rodger Goodell has now shared his two cents worth on this whole controversy, and let’s just say that Bakhtiari does not agree with him one bit.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Speaks Out on Turf Controversy

Goodell was interviewed by Stephen A. Smith on ESPN’s First Take on Wednesday and the commissioner used the opportunity to reveal how some players actually prefer turf over grass:
“They have said that (they want grass) in many cases, but you also have other players who like playing on the turf field because it’s faster,” Goodell said (h/t Christopher Kuhagen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel). “You got mixed opinions. What we want to go is on science. We want to go on what’s the best from an injury standpoint to prevent the injuries to give our players the best possible surface to play on.”

For his part, Aaron Rodgers has kept mum on this issue. All he said in his statement is that he intends to come back from this injury. This appears to be the four-time MVP’s way of shooting down all the rumors surrounding his potential retirement.
Green Bay Packers Star David Bakhtiari Claps Back at Rodger Goodell
It’s safe to say that David Bakhtiari is not one of those players Goodell is referring to. So much so, that the Packers star decided to clap back on the league’s head honcho with some savagery:
“What kind of toad poison is the commish smoking?!?” Bakhtiari commented on an Instagram graphic quoting Goodell.
You just know that Bakhtiari isn’t going to back down from this debate — especially since it’s the career of his buddy that has been put on the line in this whole debacle — and it comes as no surprise that he’s slammed the commissioner for his recent comments. Whether or not Bakhtiari gets in trouble for this is yet to be seen. It would not be the first time.
As it turns out, however, Bakhtiari is not alone in his crusade. In fact, a couple of NFL players have also called out the commissioner for his claims. Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert also jumped in on the comments section with a jab of his own: “Whoever said this should speak up then.”
Similarly, former Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard also chimed in, posting a single cap emoji in his comment. Needless to say, these players do not agree with Commissioner Goodell either.
