NFL: The 2023 off-season has been wild, to say the least. Aaron Rodgers is a Jet, Tom Brady is retired, DeAndre Hopkins is a Titan, and Dalvin Cook and Ezekiel Elliot are free agents. It would appear that one more move made some news today. This time it was a former first-round draft pick being released by the New Orleans Saints.
New Orleans Saints Release Former First-Round Draft Pick Billy Price (NFL)
In a surprising move ahead of the upcoming NFL training camp, the New Orleans Saints have decided to release veteran center Billy Price, a former 1st round pick. The news were first reported by ESPN’s Field Yates. Price played in 69 NFL games in his career, starting 45 of them.
Price was signed by the Saints at the end of mandatory minicamp in June. He was with the Arizona Cardinals last season, but he’s known for being the Cincinnati Bengals’ first-round draft pick out of Ohio State in 2018.
Would The Green Bay Packers Be Interested In C Billy Price?
The Packers have a lot of experience returning but also some potential question marks on the right side of the offensive line. What we do know is that Elgton Jenkins will be at left guard. However, there could be competition at both center and right guard, with offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich saying that Zach Tom would see playing time at both positions this summer.
On the back end of the roster, depth at the tackle position could squeeze out Sean Rhyan and Jake Hanson, two players who were on the initial 53-man roster a year ago. The signing of Billy Price would, at the very least, provide incredible depth at the center position for the Packers. Price could even compete for a starting job as long as his health allows him to stay on the field.
