David Stearns is a few months into his New York Mets tenure and fans unfamiliar with the way he operates are learning about his philosophies and values. With the Milwaukee Brewers this included a combination of developing talent internally, adding young and controllable players, and generally speaking making several under the radar transactions that gives players opportunities to succeed.
While speaking with the media, in order to introduce Luis Severino and Harrison Bader, David Stearns responded to a question regarding criticisms from fans and his first off-season not living up to their expectations.

His interview was held through zoom in which David Stearns is seen in an office that appears quite empty. Distracting as that was he did answer questions from the media that included being criticized by fans.
“I love that our fanbase wants us to sign everyone out there. We want high expectations. We want our fans passionately engaged. We want them to demand excellence. Excellence requires thoughtful, strategic, and wise acquisitions throughout.”
