The New York Giants have been sharp for the most part throughout the 2023 NFL training camp. Players are fighting for spots, and there is one rookie on the roster that is impressing everyone that you wouldn’t think. And no, it isn’t rookie cornerback Deonte Banks from Maryland.

The rookie who has been impressing in training camp for the New York Giants so far is rookie Tre Hawkins III. Hawkins III is a sixth-round pick out of Old Dominion. He has been working his way up the depth chart for New York throughout training camp up to this point.

Tre Hawkins III is a 6’3″ kid who weighs 195 lbs. He has had tremendous technique and ball skills throughout training camp so far for the New York Giants. New York put on pads for the first time throughout training camp on Tuesday. He was working with the first unit on defense on the outside and did a tremendous job.

Some who have been watching training camp believe that the hype needs to be taken seriously.

New York Giants Cornerback Depth Chart

At the start of training camp, Adoree Jackson and rookie Deonte Banks were listed as the starting cornerbacks on the New York Giants depth chart. After those two players, it was Cor’Dale Flott and Darnay Holmes. Tre Hawkins III and Nick McCould were listed on the third team on New York’s depth chart.

It appears as if Hawkins III has already surpassed Holmes on the depth chart for the Giants. It will be interesting to see how long head coach Brian Daboll will have him working with the first team throughout training camp. If he continues to excel, he will no doubt make the team this season and potentially be on the field a lot in live-game action for the New York Giants.
