The Golden State Warriors are facing an offseason that could very well determine their future as contenders. While Steph Curry has continued to be one of the best players in the NBA, his supporting cast failed to match his energy and effectiveness.
That supporting cast took a major blow on Monday. Four-time All-Star and Defensive Player of the Year Draymond Green declined his $27.5 million player option and will become a free agent. Shams Charania of The Athletic broke the news on Twitter:
Golden State Warriors four-time NBA champion Draymond Green is declining his $27.5 million player option for 2023-24 season and will enter unrestricted free agency, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul told @TheAthletic @Stadium.

What Options Are There for Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors?

It is entirely possible that Green returns to Golden State despite turning down his option. If this is the case, the Warriors can re-sign him on a more team-friendly deal. Green just opted out of a four-year deal worth $99.6 million.
Green will be entering his age 33 season this year. It is not likely that he will get another deal worth close to $100 million. That being said, he does plan to explore all options, including sign-and-trades or just signing elsewhere for as much as he can get.
Would Draymond Green Be a Fit for the Milwaukee Bucks?

In a word, no. It is very difficult to see Green as a free agent target for the Milwaukee Bucks. For one, his antics on the court do not mesh with the culture Milwaukee has in their locker room.
Even aside from that, the Bucks simply do not have the salary cap space likely needed to sign Green. Sure, they could partake in a sign-and-trade for Green, but that would cost them Bobby Portis, Grayson Allen, and/or Pat Connaughton.
If they did that, they would essentially kill their already think depth on the roster without improving their salary cap.
It is highly unlikely that Green makes his way to Milwaukee.
