MLB Trade Rumors: A season after ending an extensive play-off drought the Seattle Mariners find themselves with an uphill battle toward returning. On the last day of July they have a 54-51 record. This puts them 5.5 games out of the AL West division lead and 4.5 out of a Wild Card spot.
With that being said the Mariners have recently confirmed that they are making three trade candidates available via trade. This confirmation was found in Bob Nightengale’s latest notebook.
Seattle Mariners trade candidates Paul Sewald, Teoscar Hernandez and Ty France are all available (MLB Trade Rumors).
All three of these players had been mentioned in trade rumors for quite some time. Of these players only Teoscar Hernandez is a true rental. Paul Sewald has 1.5 years of control remaining and Ty France will not hit free agency until 2026.
From a Mariners players perspective they are hopeful that the team will not be subtracting. In the past they infamously dealt Kendall Graveman and Rafael Montero in 2021 to the division rival Houston Astros, so it would not be out of the ordinary for Seattle to make an unorthodox move.
Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh has acknowledged that it is out of his control but he would like to be adding pieces.
“Something’s going to happen, we just don’t know what it is. It’s out of our control. We want to be in this thing. We don’t want to be giving anybody away. We want to be adding, not subtracting.’’
