MLB News: Former Milwaukee Brewers closer Josh Hader recently appeared on an episode of Foul Territory and provided a bold prediction regarding what he thinks his former team will do at this years trade deadline.
One year ago Josh Hader was surprisingly traded mid-season from the Brewers to the San Diego Padres. He is now in the final year of team control and has the highest arbitration salary of any reliever at $14.1 million. It’s unclear where he will be playing in 2024, but he has set himself up nicely for a big pay day.
From the Brewers perspective trading Josh Hader was inevitable because he was going to be out of their price range long term. Trading him mid-season was quite controversial, but now for the second season in a row they are faced with a similar dilemma for Corbin Burnes has just one and a half years of team control remaining.
On an episode of Foul Territory, Josh Hader was asked about his thoughts regarding what the Brewers will do at the trade deadline this year.
MLB News: Josh Hader gives bold prediction regarding 2023 Milwaukee Brewers trade deadline intentions.
The question that was proposed to Josh Hader was if he believed that the Brewers would trade any of the following players: Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, or Christian Yelich. Hader thinks they should retain those players and continue to push for the playoffs.
If it was me I’d ride it out to the end of the year, but I don’t get paid to do those big boy moves.
I would think they (Brewers) keep Burnesy (Corbin Burnes) and Yeli (Christian Yelich). I don’t think they would trade them.

I could see trading a pitcher, if we got a good hitter. The Hader trade was a disaster. I’ll stop being a Brewers fan if they trade Yelich. He’s finally hitting over .270. Besides Owen Miller, nobody else is a clutch hitter with RISP.
With Yelich’s albatross contract, and past struggles, I doubt anyone would trade for him anyway.
