Joey Wiemer of the Milwaukee Brewers is currently rocking a mullet. The rookie changed his hair design when the team was in Cincinnati and he visited his trusted barber from college. Upon arrival of the mullet he went on a hot streak at the plate.
His hair flow and production at the plate got several other Brewers thinking if they should rock the same hairstyle. Currently no other Milwaukee players have decided to follow through on that but Corbin Burnes did say that if they make the post season he will get a matching mullet.
In honor of Joey Wiemer’s mullet and increased offensive production the Brewers had team barber Jose Perez give out free mullets at the ballpark on Saturday afternoon. Coincidentally Wiemer went on to hit a home run on free mullet day at American Family Field.
Joey Wiemer hit a home run on free mullet day and also became the second rookie to post double digit home runs and stolen bases.
Wiemer’s two run long ball against the Pirates marked his 10th of the season. This puts him in some pretty good company as he joined Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks as the only other rookie with 10 home runs and 10 stolen bases this season. 11 players in total have accomplished that this season.
Following the game the media asked Joey Wiemer if he knew that the team was going to offer free haircuts. His response was “no.” It’s a cool gesture by the Brewers to not only provide free hair cuts but also to honor a rookies hot streak at the park in such a cool way.
