The Milwaukee Brewers possible trade deadline intentions were recently revealed by MLB Insider and Executive Reporter Mark Feinsand. Among eight total teams Feinsand listed the Brew Crew as one organization expected to thread the buy/sell needle. He also reported that the number of teams that will both add and subtract at this year’s deadline may be a big story line.
Mark Feinsand listed the Milwaukee Brewers as one of eight teams expected to thread the buy/sell needle at this year’s trade deadline.

On MLB.com Mark Feinsand reported that this year’s trade deadline may be fascinating from the perspective of the number of teams that will both add and subtract from their big league roster. He listed the Tampa Bay Rays, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Guardians, New York Mets, San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Milwaukee Brewers as organizations expected to thread this needle. Of this group the Guardians and Brewers are currently division leaders, but both have a history that supports Feinsands buy/sell report.
Buying as well as selling makes sense for the Milwaukee Brewers this year.

In the coming weeks the Brewers will have numerous players, mainly pitchers, returning from the injured list. Players that cannot be optioned to the minor leagues include Joe Ross and Enoli Paredes. Additionally catcher Eric Haase is out of minor league options. Gary Sanchez is one position player who is expected to be activated as soon as Wednesday, July 24.
In order to remain compliant with a 26-man active roster Milwaukee may look to trade some lower leverage arms or reserve/bench players on the 40-man roster. This would technically be classified as selling. I wouldn’t expect the Brewers to make any drastic deals involving key members of their squad such as Willy Adames and they most certainly will add pieces to their team as well.
Teams buying as well as selling may be a massive story line this year.

Mark Feinsand also shared a quote from a MLB executive regarding the conversations that are being had around the league. Feinsand indicated that his source said, “As far as the industry goes, it might even be a bigger story than any player who actually gets moved. The conversations are unlike any we’ve had in the past that I can recall.”
July 30 is the date of the 2024 MLB trade deadline. With less than one week to go we should start getting trades in the near future.
