MLB News: The Milwaukee Brewers play a lot of close games and Saturday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox was a prime example of their style of play in which typically they win more than they lose.
White Sox starter Jesse Scholtens blanked the Brewers through the first six innings in which during that time his offense provided him two runs of support off of Brandon Woodruff. In the seventh inning Milwaukee finally got something going, forced manager Pedro Grifol to go to his bullpen, and then some timely hitting provided them with three runs and the lead heading into the eighth inning.
For the eighth inning Brewers manager Craig Counsell had to get creative. His typical high leverage arms that bridge that gap to Devin Williams had been utilized in games prior, so he had Hoby Milner continue on for the first two batters and then he used Peguero for the final out.
This set them up for one of this year’s best closers in baseball Devin Williams. He too has been used frequently and this outing was his fifth appearance in the last eight days. Despite the heavy usage he ended up striking out three White Sox batters and securing his 28th save of the season.
After the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 win over the White Sox, where do they rank in regards to one run victories? (MLB News)
