Milwaukee Brewers closer Devin Williams has had the Cincinnati Reds number this season. The two teams met a total of nine times in July and every single time he got the best of the Reds hitters. His efforts against Cincinnati were so good that he became just the second reliever in MLB history to dominate a team so effectively.

Devin Williams of the Milwaukee Brewers shut down the Cincinnati Reds so effectively that he became the second reliever ever with this preposterous season stat line.
Per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal, Devin Williams is the second reliever ever to record 15+ strikeouts and no hits or runs allowed in a season against a single opponent. This year he struck out 17 Cincinnati Reds batters over 8.2 innings pitched. He also notched six saves against the Reds.

It is not just the Reds that Devin Williams is dominating. The 2023 All-Star has thrown 40.1 innings this year, has a 1.56 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 26 saves, 36.5% k rate, and a 13.04 K:9 ratio. 2023 is his first year as the Brewers full time closer and he has transitioned into that role with ease.
