The Milwaukee Bucks will be exploring any and all possibilities this summer as they look to field an improved roster for the upcoming season. Recent news coming out of Hollywood points to the notion that the Los Angeles Lakers could be willing to part ways with forward Jarred Vanderbilt, who played just 29 games in an injury-riddled 2023-24 campaign.
Despite his injury issues, Vanderbilt could be the type of player that would fit in excellently with the current roster make-up of the Bucks.
REPORT: Los Angeles Lakers Open to Trading Jarred Vanderbilt

Lakers insider Jovan Buha of The Athletic recently reported that Vanderbilt could be on the trade block this summer. The 25-year-old could play a significant role in LA’s potential revamping this season as they too look to beef up their roster ahead of the new season.

In one and a half seasons with the Lakers, Vanderbilt has produced averages of 6.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 21.6 minutes per game.
Milwaukee Bucks Urged to Make Move on Vanderbilt

According to Dalton Sell of Behind the Bucks Pass, Milwaukee should do their due diligence on a potential swoop for the Lakers forward. Sell argues that Vanderbilt’s biggest asset for the Bucks is his ability to defend multiple positions — a feature that Milwaukee’s defense could benefit from significantly:
“Since the departure of P.J. Tucker, the Bucks have longed for a wing defender who is capable of taking on the difficult assignments nightly. They’ve tried with players like Semi Ojeleye, Jae Crowder and Wesley Matthews, the final name being by far the most successful, but none of them could hold a candle to what Vanderbilt would bring to the table in Milwaukee,” Sell wrote.

Sell also points out that Vanderbilt is owed just $10.7 million next season, making him an inexpensive option for the Bucks. The versatile 6-foot-8 power forward is also under contract through 2028, which means that Milwaukee won’t need to worry about losing him in free agency anytime soon should they decide to trade for him this summer.
