In the latest round of Bleacher Report’s offseason trade ideas for each of the 30 NBA teams, the Milwaukee Bucks have been urged to part ways with fan-favorite Bobby Portis in a potential summer trade deal. Unsurprisingly, the idea of moving on from the polarizing veteran has drawn all sorts of reactions from fans on X, formerly Twitter.
At this point, it appears that the Milwaukee faithful are torn on whether or not it would be worth it to trade Portis away in the offseason.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Fans Chime in on Bobby Portis Trade Proposal

The trade proposal sees Milwaukee send Portis and Andre Jackson Jr. to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for Moses Moody, Gary Payton II, and a future second-round pick.
The main argument from Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report is that in order for the Bucks to make a substantial improvement on their roster, they will need to part ways with an asset like Portis:
“As painful as it would be to part ways with a mainstay like Portis, this roster isn’t significantly changing without a sacrifice of that magnitude,” Buckley wrote.
This makes sense, right? Well, more than a few fans on X seem to believe so:
This is pretty spot on.
Bucks fans are constantly saying we need to revamp the roster around big 3, but then are unwilling to trade away the one role player that has legitimate trade value. pic.twitter.com/bIIIgGmx0C

I agree with this for sure. The one player who has the highest return value is Brook though. If we add two young athletes who can defend at the five, Brook can get us something key. He's not only still playing well – in certain situations – on both ends, he'll be a big expiring

these are the only hold-overs i would want on the roster
1. Giannis
2. Dame
3. Khris
4. AJ Green
5. AJJ
6. PatBev (no salary bump, else…gone!)As much as I would like MJB to stay, I don't think he has killer insticts. The rest can either be traded or released.

So many fans are emotional, overvaluing our own players and think other teams just want to hand us good players.
There’s so much going into building your roster within all the rules of the cap, it’s tough to navigate.

Other supporters, however, just don’t see the value in trading Portis, especially if they won’t get equal or better value in return. Some fans have even suggested trading Brook Lopez instead of Portis:
Go through the draft. Don't get rid of Bobby.

And you have yet to and won't be able to propose a trade that is bobby for someone else straight up that's an actual upgrade. The reason you can't is because at his contract, he's probably the best player out there.

I’d trade Brook before Bobby

The issue is there aren't a lot of guys that have value with it you other teams want because Portis only makes like $11M and with #Bucks cap, you can't deal him for a guy that makes more who is even an avg wing like DFS straight up

Idk why people think Bobby is bad.. I genuinely think he provides so much for us. Trading Brook is 10x better

What is clear is that the Bucks faithful are not exactly in agreement as to whether the team should keep Bobby or not.
