Much like Utah Jazz star Jordan Clarkson, Los Angeles Clippers’ Kris Dunn is shaping up to be an intriguing trade target for the Milwaukee Bucks. As it stands, the guard may have something solid to offer for the Giannis Antetokounmpo-led squad.
Dunn excelled at New London High School, becoming a top-ranked point guard. He attended Providence College, where he had a standout college career, earning multiple accolades, including Big East Player of the Year in 2015 and 2016.
Dunn was selected fifth overall in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He made his debut during the 2016-2017 season, showcasing his defensive skills and playmaking abilities. However, he was traded to the Chicago Bulls in 2017, where he continued to develop his game, achieving a career-high of 32 points in a single game and ranking highly in defensive statistics.
In 2020, the point guard signed with the Atlanta Hawks but faced injury issues that limited his appearances. He later joined the Agua Caliente Clippers in 2022 and had brief stints with the Portland Trail Blazers and the Capital City Go-Go. In early 2023, he found a role with the Utah Jazz, where he played effectively before signing with the Clippers in 2024.
Los Angeles Clippers’ Kris Dunn Named as Potential Trade Target for Milwaukee Bucks
Although much of the Bucks’ roster has been finally set, they can definitely use someone with Dunn’s talents on the court. According to an NBA analysis by Greg Swartz for Bleacher Report, the point guard is being projected as a trade target for Milwaukee.
“Dunn has yet to play a game for the Clippers, although he could become a valuable trade piece at the deadline if Los Angeles is sputtering.
A strong defender, Dunn revived his career in Utah the past two years while averaging 7.4 points and 4.3 assists on 39.5 percent from three. He’d be an upgrade over Wright as the primary backup to Damian Lillard,” Swartz said.
The departure of Patrick Beverley for Israel has taken away a reliable defensive backcourt option for the team. Having Dunn in the lineup addresses that concern and helps Lillard focus more on the defensive end of the court.
Throughout his career, Dunn has been recognized for his defensive prowess and versatility, making significant contributions on both ends of the court while navigating a series of trades and injuries. If the Bucks sign him, expect the guard to fill a much-needed role with the team.
