Trade season is fast approaching and given how they are one of the favorites to go all the way this year, it comes as no surprise that the Milwaukee Bucks are now being linked to a multitude of potential trade targets.
One man who has been rumored to be on Milwaukee’s radar is Brooklyn Nets swingman Royce O’Neale, who could find himself on the trade block before the February deadline.
Should Milwaukee Bucks Take Risk on Royce O’Neale?
Max Griffith of Behind the Bucks Pass has conjured up a list of potential trade targets for Milwaukee, and O’Neale is a name that has popped up once again. Below are the full details of the proposed swap:
Milwaukee gets: Royce O’Neale
Brooklyn gets: Pat Connaughton, 2024 Second-Round Pick (via Portland), 2027 Second-Round Pick
The Bucks could still use an upgrade on the wing defensively, and O’Neale certainly checks that box for Milwaukee. The 3-and-D specialist could be the missing piece the Bucks need to take their defense to an even higher level.
“The defensive switch ability off the bench O’Neale offers would do wonders for Milwaukee’s defensive problems. He also offers some of the playoff experience that fans worry we would lose dealing off Connaughton,” Griffith wrote.
Will Connaughton, Second-Rounders Be Enough?
According to reports, the Nets are demanding a protected first-round pick in exchange for O’Neale. However, the fact that the 6-foot-4 small forward appears to be available is all the motivation the Bucks need to try and make a deal work.
Losing Connaughton would be tough, and Milwaukee would part ways with even more future assets in this potential deal. However, if the Nets are amenable to this package, then this could be the make-or-break type of trade the Bucks need to take a massive step toward their championship objective this season.
