Milwaukee Bucks wing Malik Beasley has been one of the best shooters in the NBA this 2023-24 season. If he keeps up his current 3-point shooting rate and efficiency, he could even end up making history that not even Stephen Curry–considered the GOAT shooter–has achieved.
Through the Bucks’ 23 games this campaign, Beasley has already attempted 151 triples and made 70 of them for a 46.4 percent shooting clip. He is averaging an even 3.0 makes on 6.6 attempts from deep per game.
Beasley has benefited a lot from playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. Considering how much defense the two superstars attract, the 27-year-old often finds himself with plenty of space to bomb away from long distance.
With that said, Beasley is now on track to attempt 538 triples if he plays all 82 games. If he’s able to maintain his 46.0 shooting percentage and breach the 500 3-point attempt mark, he’ll be the first player to achieve the feat. Yes, no player has ever done it before, according to Bally Sports Wisconsin.
Stephen Curry is the closest one. Three times the Warriors star attempted more than 500 triples and averaged at least 44 percent in a season, which he achieved in 2012-13, 2014-15 and 2015-16.
Considering how efficient Malik Beasley has been for the Milwaukee Bucks, he could very well become a record-setter instead of a record-breaker.
Malik Beasley’s Sharpshooting Helps Milwaukee Bucks Overcome Chicago Bulls
Even better for the Milwaukee Bucks, Malik Beasley has been a highly impactful player for them this campaign. He is averaging 12.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists on 48.6 percent overall shooting as a full-time starter alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard.
During Monday’s showdown against the Chicago Bulls, Beasley was pivotal as he dropped 19 points on 5-of-8 shooting from deep. He also had four rebounds, two assists and one steal as the Bucks escaped with the 133-129 win in overtime.
It’s not the first time that Beasley’s shooting heroics has been a difference-maker for the Bucks, and hopes are high he’ll maintain his current shooting streak. If Milwaukee wants to win a championship, their 2023 free agent signing will certainly play a big role.
Who knows, by the end of the season, Bucks fans might see him make some incredible history as well.
