There is no doubt in the mind of Milwaukee Bucks guard Malik Beasley that he should be included in this year’s 3-Point Shootout during All-Star weekend. In fact, the 27-year-old is adamant that he should have taken part in the shootout in the past couple of seasons.
Now that Beasley is shooting a career-best and a league-high 48.1 percent from distance, you just know that he’s going to be campaigning for a call-up to the big stage.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Malik Beasley Wants In on 3-Point Contest
Damian Lillard is currently the reigning NBA 3-Point champ. He will be out to defend his title this year, and for his part, Beasley hopes that he will be one of the challengers to his new teammate’s crown.
“Yes, I feel like I have deserved to go (to the 3-Point Contest) the last couple of years, especially this year,” Beasley told Shams Charania of The Athletic. “I’m leading the league in 3-point percentage. God forbid, I want to continue that. But yeah, I deserve to be in the 3-Point Contest. I’ve always wanted to be in it. I think I can win it.”
Given how well he’s shooting the ball this season, it does seem like Beasley could give Dame a run for his money. That is, of course, under the assumption that Beasley gets an invite.
Beasley’s Bold Declaration
Shams then asked Beasley straight up if he believes he is the best shooter in the NBA today. The Bucks shooting guard got brutally honest in his response:
“Yes, I do feel like I’m one of the best shooters in the league,” Beasley said. “Obviously, there’s lots of guys who can put the ball in the hole. I’m not trying to be cocky or anything, I’m just confident right now. I’m real confident in my work, I’ve been putting in work every day. And it’s showing. Like I said, not to be complacent, that’s the main thing I’m focused on right now. Just don’t get bored with success, keep doing my work, keep recovering, and things like that.”
Beasley is currently knocking down 3.0 triples per game for the Bucks and there’s no denying that his accuracy from deep is going to be integral for Milwaukee’s success this season.
