Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley has apologized to the ESPN reporter who he savagely dissed during his post-game interview in the aftermath of their season-ending Game 6 loss to the Indiana Pacers.
Beverley took a lot of slack for refusing to answer questions from a female reporter after learning that she wasn’t subscribed to his podcast. Upon realizing the magnitude of his actions, Pat Bev quickly reached out to the ESPN employee to apologize for putting her in that situation.
Beverley has now shed more light on the incident as he discussed why he believes this was all blown out of proportion.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Patrick Beverley Speaks Out on Reporter Controversy

On Wednesday’s episode of the Pat Bev Pod — the same one which the ESPN reporter was penalized for for not being a subscriber — the Bucks veteran spoke openly about the controversial incident. According to Beverley, he immediately called the reporter as soon as he learned that their exchange had gone completely viral:
Okay let’s talk about it. @patbev21 @rone pic.twitter.com/GhlCsV5e6Z

Beverley noted that he meant no disrespect to Malinda Adams, who is a producer for ESPN. The Bucks guard also stated that they had a laugh about the incident as they discussed it over the phone.

Beverley did not exactly defend his actions, but he did explain that this is something that he’s done in the past. He has been consistent in promoting his podcast whenever he gets the opportunity to do so, and this incident at the end of Game 6 against Indiana was nothing different — at least in his own mind.
Beverley did admit, though, that the timing was off, and the fact that he humbly apologized to Adams is a testament to how holds a significant amount of regret over how things turned out.
