The Milwaukee Bucks lost again on Sunday night, this time falling to the Utah Jazz, 123-108. It was another disappointing outing for the struggling Bucks, who have now lost three out of their last four games.
To make matters worse, all four games have come under the watch of new head coach Doc Rivers. The former NBA champion coach has not had an ideal start to his tenure in Milwaukee thus far.
Damian Lillard Believes Milwaukee Bucks Can Take After Boston Celtics
Damian Lillard isn’t denying the fact that the Bucks have had their fair share of problems this season. The eight-time All-Star had to look back to the 2021-22 season when the Portland Trail Blazers took down the Boston Celtics in what turned out to be a turning point for Jayson Tatum and Co.
The Blazers shocked Boston to its core, with that loss leading to talk about the Celtics potentially breaking up their core. Boston stood firm, though, and they ended up turning their season around.
“They hadn’t figured it out yet, they hadn’t figured out their defense. Then they hit their stride, they made the Finals,” Lillard said of the Celtics, via Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports. “And I don’t mean that’s what’s gonna happen to us, but it speaks to you can be one place and then …”
I guess Lillard is also anticipating that turning point for the Bucks this season. This could come in this current five-game road trip, which ends on Tuesday against the Phoenix Suns. Another loss would give them a 1-4 record in their last five, and that would be an ideal time for a wake-up call for them.
Dame remains unfazed, though. Lillard knows that all these struggles are necessary to make the Bucks a better squad. What matters the most is how they play from April onwards.
“When I got traded here, it sounded great. ‘We’re gonna have Dame and Giannis’,” Lillard said, then noting it was never going to be easy. “Ain’t nobody about to roll out here and let you win a championship.”
