Khris Middleton was the star of the show on Wednesday night as he helped lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a 144-122 win over the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center.
Well, technically, it was still Giannis Antetokounmpo who utterly dominated the Nets with a game-high 32 points on 10-of-12 shooting, but Middleton came out with arguably his best performance of the season thus far.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Khris Middleton Goes Off Vs. Nets
After a slow start to the season, Middleton has finally been able to get his legs under him of late. Wednesday’s impressive display was a perfect example of his progress, with the three-time All-Star finishing with a season-high 27 points on 11-of-18 shooting. He also chipped in with three triples, three rebounds, and another season-high in assists with 10.
After the game, Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin heaped praise on Middleton’s heroic effort against the Nets:
“I trust Khris 100 percent. It’s great to have a player like Khris who sees the game at a high level,” Griffin said, via Sportsnaut. “The connection he has with Giannis and just having him as a coach on the floor. There’s times I call a play and Khris already has something.”
Together, Middleton and Antetokounmpo produced 59 out of Milwaukee’s 144 points, while also combining for 18 assists between them.
As Coach Griff implied, this is a pretty effective duo.
Adrian Griffin Comments on Extended Road Spell
Griffin admitted, however, that despite the lopsided scoreline, it was still a tough battle against the Nets. The fact that the Bucks have played in New York three times over the past five days has been taking its toll on the team:
“Not making excuses, but we’ve been in New York for five days and it’s been a lot,” Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin said. “These games you just try to find a way to win the game, it was tough to find some rhythm and continuity defensively.”
The Bucks play one more game on the road — against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday — before finally heading back home to Milwaukee.
