The Brooklyn Nets put up a respectable fight against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night. The Nets tried to hang on against a powerhouse Milwaukee side for most of the game, but the Bucks would eventually pull away in the fourth quarter to secure what turned out to be a 144-122 blowout victory.
Brooklyn deserves a lot of credit, though, considering how they were decimated with injuries against a surging Bucks squad.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Praises Nets
Giannis Antetokounmpo absolutely dominated the Nets. He finished with a game-high 32 points on a near-perfect 10-of-12 shooting. The seven-time All-Star flirted with a triple-double too, with 10 rebounds and eight assists.
The Nets simply had no answer for Antetokounmpo and the Bucks. To be fair, they were missing no less than six key players for Wednesday’s bout. Cameron Johnson, Nic Claxton, Spencer Dinwiddie, Ben Simmons, Lonnie Walker IV, and Dorian Finney-Smith were all out of commission with respective injuries.
Brooklyn was coming off a back-to-back set too, which prompted them to play their second unit for the majority of the contest.
Jalen Wilson (21), Trendon Watford (17), and Noah Clowney (14) scored the most points for the Nets on the evening. All three are far from being household names. Even Giannis himself admitted that most of the players he went up against on Wednesday night were unfamiliar faces:
“They competed hard,” Antetokounmpo said, via Jake Rogers of NBA Analysis. “I don’t know most of them but definitely I’ll learn them after today because they made it extremely, extremely tough for us.”
Antetokounmpo had some high praise for his opponents, though, who as he said, left quite an impression on him for the effort they put in on Wednesday night.
